This is my Anne of Green Gables site, dedicated to our favorite heroine, Anne Shirley! I hope you enjoy the site, though it may not work too well as it is my first web-building venture. Thank you for stopping by!

The "Anne" books are eight novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The first, "Anne of Green Gables," was published in 1908 in a sunday school serial. It soon became so popular that "Maud" published it as a novel, in one volume. Later, seven more Anne books followed: "Anne of Avonlea" (1909,) "Anne of the Island" (1915,) "Anne of Windy Poplars" (1939,) "Anne's House of Dreams (1917,) "Anne of Ingleside (1939,) "Rainbow Valley" (1919,) and "Rilla of Ingleside" (1921.)

The books have also been adapted to film many times. The first movie was a 1919 silent movie with Mary Miles Minter. As of 1999, it is believed that all prints of this movie are lost. After that, there was a 1934 version, a 1956 musical, a 1972 miniseries, and the most popular, the Sullivan Entertainment TV movies made in 1985, 1987 and 2000.
